Mission Statement: To create and maintain a fellowship for the inclusive pursuit of Medieval and Tolkeinesque High Fantasy Arts and Science exploration. To promote acceptance and diversity of thought through community service, both internally and at large.

We have experience, and most of it is good. In other organizational efforts, we have noticed a few trends:

Risk: Lots of people want to play, but not many want to do the work necessary to make it possible.

Mitigation: The system must be built on small teams of people constantly training their replacements, even if they don’t plan on being replaced. This allows for a wider pool of institutional knowledge and takes away the risk of any one person being overwhelmed, but feeling like they can’t step back. It also makes the areas of responsibility smaller so that the breadth of knowledge necessary for good succession planning is smooth.

Risk: Participants don’t say anything to improve the organization when everything is “good enough,” leaving leadership without the voices of the membership to guide the organization.

Mitigation: All members sign up and then check-in. This shows active participation and grants the right to a vote, not just a voice. But the right to a vote does not require participation, so votes will be taken at the intermission of a practice, with all eligible members required to vote up or down on items.

Risk: People will want to play, but not make or buy their own weapons, will not bring their own Arts Supplies, will not Dress in Garb.

Mitigation: Visitors are not required to bring garb, but must wear a tabbard (they will be supplied by the Event Staff if they wish to participate. Once you have signed up and attended one event to become an active member, you will be required to wear garb or not participate. Event Staff may assist members dealing with unforeseen circumstances as they see fit.

Risk: The Weather will not always cooperate, and while we have access to shelter houses in the park, there is no guarantee that they will be available.

Mitigation: Event Staff will have access to one Pop-up with walls to provide shelter from the sun if someone needs to cool down, or from the rain.
