Because SIMFAS is not one ruleset, we will be discussing rules allowed for practice, and it can be quite fluid. The point isn’t to win. It’s to challenge ourselves to be able to handle whatever comes at us and still be standing… or die with honor. Dying on the playing field is a big part of learning, taking bold steps to advance our training, and learning from our mistakes.

Example differences in the Boffer arena:

The basic color coding of Dagorhir will be used for references to weapon types. The restrictive grappling of Dagorhir, for instance, will also be applied when not doing grappling practice. The indication of limb damage will follow Belegarth’s, and the lack of “magic switching” (moving a weapon from an injured, useless limb to a good one) will follow the Dagorhir restriction.
With these examples, you can see that there are more limitations than either Dagorhir or Belegarth for the full-contact version of foam fighting.

Non-Boffer Fighting:

SCA Rules will be adhered to for full armored combat, unless a good argument can be made for something safer. HEMA rules will be applied in the same manner.

Because the leadership’s weapons experience is mostly in Dag/Bel style fighting, that is where we will naturally be focusing our efforts at training. As we add Knights-At-Arms who have extensive training in other areas, we will train in those areas.

Dagorhir Manual of Arms or Belegarth Book of War

Ultimately, the Knight-Marshal on the field will make the final call on any dispute. They will be looking to balance safety, fairness, and what makes each player stronger.
