Besides a positive attitude and a willingness to try new things and look weird doing them… (we think cool, but we are weird).

This is an outdoor event.

  • Sunscreen, or some skin protection
    • If you are sun sensitive like those puny humans are, then suncreen or light breathable material (like loosely woven linen) that blocks the sun but lets the heat out is a good choice.
  • Water
    • There may or may not be water available… bring your own liguid and hydrate especially if you are participating in the more active arts.
    • If you want to partake in the water cooler (we often have one) bring your own tankard, horn, cup, etc. We will not be supplying disposable ones.
  • Garb
    • Garb is just regular clothes… if you were a regular medieval person. Short of a time machine, though, we just do the best we can to look medieval. If the clothing gives off “shopped at a discount store or got these from a nurse after he got off work vibe… leave them at home. Make a Tabard and get some rope for a belt to hide the clearly modern minutia.
    • Footwear – to keep the medieval vibe, avoid modern bright white or colored sneakers. Chucks are not going to get it. My favs are combat style boots of either brown or black… that’s because I like ankle support. Sure, you could go full medieval footwear, but it’s not as comfy.
  • Bag to keep stuff in
    • Just any ol’ bag will do, but with being outside and being active, you will not want to be running around with a cell phone, keys, shiv, etc. in your pocket.
  • Don’t brings:
    • Illegal stuff… even if it isn’t illegal for you but it would be for someone else… don’t bring it.
    • Weapons lacking a sheath or are otherwise not peace-bound have no place near combatants. Away from people who are actively participating in a running and playing game where real impalement can happen, fine… but if there are real weapons on or near where game combat is happening the person bringing them will be asked kindly to jump into a bag of holding that will be tossed in a wormhole. We think taking care of each other is one of our highest orders, and that means actively avoiding things that we know will hurt each other.
    • Anger
      • This can be the hardest thing to leave behind. We all have bad days, but making our bad day into someone else’s isn’t okay. Bringing our troubles and our boiling frustration can spread drama if there is no attempt on our part to understand that every one is dealing with similar and real drama. Asking about others and how they are tackling their challenges is the quickest route to empathy and understanding that our own drama (even though it seems so from the inside) is not so hard to carry especially when we do it together.
    • Sense of Righteousness
      • This is a weird one. Who doesn’t want to be right? People who want to get stronger in their sense of self. Wh3en the choice needs to be made between being together and being right… we chose togetherness. We don’t need to be right to care about each other. We don’t need to be the best at anything to be worthy of something.
    • Anything that sucks the joy from others.
